Coke and Mentos Experiment- Real Science Behind The Erruption and The Mentos Geysers with videos

Most of the daily eatables that you intake are compose of the chemical substances and can react violently if exposed to the substances that could react with them. Coke and Mentos experiment is also carried out several times just to justify different questions. I have analysed and then summarized different Coke and Mentos experiments but before we go towards the videos of the Coke and Mentos experiment, don’t you think we should first study what coke and the Mentos are actually composed of?

Of course, no one in the world (other than the Coca-Cola employees) knows the secret formula of the coke composition but what I can do is at least provide you with some major components of the coke.

  • Carbonated water (it used for all soft drink companies).
  • Coca leaves
  • Sugar (excessive amount)
  • Carmel
  • Some natural flavours (as shown in the above image).
  • Phosphoric acid
  • Caffeine

  • Glucose syrup (wheat)
  • Coconut oil that is hydrogenated
  • Starch
  • Gum

Why They react in Coke and Mentos Experiment?

So, now comes the trillion dollars question, whey both of them react if mixed together and make absolutely amazing geysers? The only reason behind such Coke and Mentos geysers is the process of nucleation(click here if you don’t know what is nucleation).

For now, what I can do is just briefly explain the process of the nucleation. Nucleation is a scientific method in which a liquid becomes dense and then eventually converts into the solid state.

So, this is what exactly happens in the Coke and Mentos experiment. If you see Mentos candy keenly then you’ll find some pores in it and these pores provide some extraordinary opportunity to the coke to form some killingly powerful bubbles. Carbon dioxide in the Coca-Cola reacts with the Mentos in no time. Mento’s constituents that help the bubbling process are listed below:

  • Gum Arabic
  • Gelatin
  •  Sugar

The bubble rate or the height of the coke fountain can be increased if the Mentos is rapidly added into the coke while Coke and Mentos experiment.

1- A car and its Amazing Fuel


What about a car that operated on the basis of the Coca-Cola fuel? Shocking? As you can watch in the above video, this guy nailed everything. He noughted a bottle full of coke on a four-wheeled car and then added Mentos into it. The reaction started soon after Mentos and the Coke came into contact with each other.

2- Coke as rocket fuel


Nothing left to see, it’s time to leave the earth. Do you see how creative this guy is? He used the same old formula of the car and coke experiment but he made little modifications. He just changed the direction of the car (rocket in the case) from horizontal to the vertically upwards. He just knocks the coke bottle containing Mentos hardly on the floor and then the job of the Coke and Mentos starts right away.

3- Amazing Coke fountain by cute young girl


In this a little cute girl adds Mentos into a Coke bottle and enjoys an amazing coke fountain at home. You can also try this at home just for fun.

Never eat Mentos with coke without the supervision of some expert.
